Open-Source Licences & Attributions

The third-party code, fonts and services behind this site and our apps — and the licences they are used under.

We build on open source and we credit it. This page lists the third-party components used by crocodata.net and by our mobile apps, together with their licences. Each app also shows its full, machine-generated licence list in Settings → Open source licences.

The site itself is hand-written HTML, CSS and vanilla JavaScript. It uses no front-end framework, no analytics library, no tracker and no cookie. Hosting is Firebase Hosting; DNS and CDN are Cloudflare.

Askra — astronomy and content

Astronomical calculations. Askra's planetary positions, lunar phases, retrograde flags, aspects and house cusps are computed by our own code, written in-house. It implements the low-precision algorithms published by Paul Schlyter at stjarnhimlen.se, which are freely published for this purpose. Mathematical algorithms are not themselves subject to copyright; the implementation is ours.

Askra does not use the Swiss Ephemeris, and therefore is not subject to its AGPL/commercial dual licence, nor does it call any third-party astrology API. No user birth data leaves our own infrastructure and Google Cloud.

Time zones. Historical local-time conversion uses the IANA Time Zone Database via the timezone Dart package — public domain (IANA TZDB), BSD 3-Clause (package).

Written content. Crystal descriptions, daily reading formats, horoscope copy and interpretation text are original works commissioned or written for Askra and owned by Crocodata sp. z o.o. They are not reproduced from books, websites or other third-party sources.
